Defund the Slaughter started as a straightforward idea: buy distressed slaughter facilities, retire their capacity permanently, and repurpose the real estate. That's still a real thesis worth pursuing — but there's a faster, more direct lever sitting right next to it. Every hide, hoof, horn, and pelt that comes out of an animal is a raw material fashion has always assumed had no substitute. It has substitutes now.
So this is the other half of the same idea, built as a product instead of a fund: outerwear and streetwear made from materials that were never attached to anything that could suffer. Mycelium leather. Recycled synthetics. Plant-based insulation. Corozo instead of bone or shell buttons. Nothing here is a compromise product — it's built to outperform the thing it replaces, not apologize for replacing it.
Mycelium leather — grown from mushroom root structure in a matter of days, not raised over years. Full-grain look and hand-feel, tanned and finished the same way traditional leather is, without the hide underneath it.
Recycled synthetics — shells and linings built from post-consumer recycled nylon and polyester, including reclaimed ocean-bound plastic. Same technical performance (DWR-treated, wind and water resistant) as virgin synthetic fabric, at a real materials-diversion benefit instead of a cost.
Plant-based insulation — a bio-based alternative to down, engineered for warmth-to-weight parity without a single feather sourced from a live-plucked or slaughtered bird.
Corozo (vegetable ivory) — every button on every garment is either corozo nut or recycled poly resin. No bone, no horn, no shell.
We list the exact material composition on every product page — not a vague "vegan leather" label, the actual material and its actual sourcing.
Shipping — free on U.S. orders over $150; a flat $12 otherwise. Orders ship within 2–3 business days of a confirmed order. International shipping is not yet available — we're starting domestic while Collection 001 ramps up production.
Returns — unworn, unwashed items in original condition can be returned within 30 days of delivery for a full refund to the original payment method. Start a return by emailing hello@defundtheslaughter.com with your order number.
